On June 15th, the 2023 China Polycarbonate Industry Development Summit and the Second Council of the Second Session were successfully held in Wuxi, with the theme of "Innovation Leading Development". The meeting aims to address the new industry issues faced by polycarbonate in the future, such as demand growth and reshaping of the industry pattern. It aims to expand downstream markets, seize new development opportunities, and point the way for scientific development for all colleagues in the new development context. In view of this, under the guidance of the Polycarbonate Branch of the China Synthetic Resin Association, all parties in the PC industry chain come together to conduct research and prediction on the latest research and development achievements, product trends, downstream demand, additive support, equipment support, recycling, and other sub industry chains. According to statistics, in 2023, it is estimated that the domestic polycarbonate capacity will be 630000 tons in excess. In addition, this year, it is estimated that the net import volume of domestic polycarbonate will be 750000 tons. The actual excess capacity of domestic polycarbonate is estimated to be 1.38 million tons, accounting for 81% of the global excess capacity. The contradiction between the supply and demand of native PC and PCR PC in Chinese Mainland is particularly prominent, and the operating rate also continues to hover at a low level. The contradiction needs to be solved urgently.
Regarding the macro development pattern of PCR materials, Topcentral ® Mr. Ma introduced the development trend and hot issues of PCR materials, providing in-depth explanations on the market demand, quality requirements, and mainstream domestic and international PCR material policy guidance in the next stage of PCR. At the same time, he expressed his own opinions on hot issues such as "PCR traceability", EU "carbon tariffs", and the application of new energy and new materials from a unique macro perspective, which was unanimously praised by the attendees. In response to issues such as imbalanced production capacity and consumption, differentiated competition, and application directions of polycarbonate, representatives of relevant units discussed and spoke with everyone on their respective perspectives at the meeting.

In today‘s world, climate change is a serious challenge facing humanity. Green, low-carbon and sustainable development advocates the recycling of resources in production, circulation, consumption, and recycling to address climate change. Plastic recycling is an important practice for green, low-carbon, and sustainable development. In response to the national dual carbon goal, the Polycarbonate Branch of the China Synthetic Resin Association has launched the following industry green development declaration:
- Reduce the use of original fossil resources, accelerate the green transformation of enterprises, realize green production, and actively promote the recycling and reuse of polycarbonate by adopting the concept and method of circular economy Ecological design from the source.
- Bravely climb the technological peak, actively participate in the green recycling technology innovation of polycarbonate materials, improve the recycling rate, standardize the management and traceability of polycarbonate recycling, and strive to improve the quality of recycled polycarbonate.
- Actively build a green and low Carbon cycle industrial chain of polycarbonate industry, strengthen the use and promotion of recycled plastics and related publicity, improve the construction of polycarbonate green industry policy system, and promote the establishment of relevant industry standards.
