Abstract

From September 30 to October 2, 2026, the Japan High-Performance Sustainable Materials Technology Exhibition (SUSMA) will open at Makuhari Messe, Chiba. Following a debut last year that generated extensive cooperation interest from Japanese companies, Topcentral® returns to SUSMA for the second consecutive year, bringing its full-chain circular solutions — already market-proven at domestic plastics and rubber trade shows — to customers in automotive, home & living, packaging, fishing gear & outdoor, and other industries, delivering recycled material solutions that are compliant, traceable, stable in performance, and ready for mass production.

Japan is currently strengthening marine plastic governance and implementing product carbon passport regulations, setting higher standards for the qualification of imported recycled feedstocks, the authenticity of traceability data, and impurity control. Recycled materials backed by international certifications and complete traceability therefore face a clear market opportunity. This is precisely the rationale behind Topcentral®'s second consecutive appearance at SUSMA: to engage deeply with the needs of East Asia's green supply chains.

At the show, Topcentral® will present four themed exhibition zones — spanning feedstock at production scale, marine waste resource recovery, material compounding, and digitally verifiable traceability — together demonstrating the complete closed loop of recycling – reprocessing – application – traceability. All solutions on display have been adapted and optimized for Japanese regulations and downstream processing conditions.

Zone 1 | PCR Compliant Recycled Resins

This zone features post-consumer recycled (PCR) polymer materials that have been validated through industrial-scale production, with feedstocks sourced from diverse waste streams including post-consumer packaging, household durables, and industrial scraps. Through multi-stage sorting, deep purification, and advanced reprocessing, these materials address the industry-wide pain points of conventional PCR resins — elevated impurity levels, unstable performance, and inconsistent batch quality.

The exhibited portfolio covers multiple grades of rABS, rPET, rPA, and rPBT recycled pellets, compatible with injection molding, extrusion, and other processing routes, and suited to applications in home & living products, pet accessories, food-contact peripheral items, and sustainable packaging. The full range holds GRS and ISCC PLUS international certifications, with strict control over heavy metals and hazardous substance migration to meet Japanese import material testing standards — offering brand owners a drop-in feedstock option for green supply chain substitution that is ready for direct machine processing.

Zone 2 | OBP Marine Waste Recovery & Upcycling

Building on frontline recovery operations under Topcentral®'s Ocean Partner® program, this zone focuses on the high-value recycling of ocean-bound plastics (OBP) — discarded fishing nets, floating coastal debris, and end-of-life fishing gear from harbors. Going well beyond simple shredding and pelletizing, the entire process is fully traceable. On display will be rPA fishing-net recyclate, rABS pellets from floating marine debris, and rPET marine recycled pellets produced through the complete process chain, with mechanical and weathering performance benchmarked against selected virgin resins. These materials serve applications such as outdoor fishing gear, marine-themed accessories, and consumer housings, helping companies implement OBP-related ESG programs and aligning with Japan's marine plastic reduction policy direction.

Zone 3 | High-Performance Recycled Compounds for Mobilitycircles 

Addressing the stringent requirements of Japan's automotive, two-wheeler, and mobility equipment industries for weathering resistance, low odor, and dimensional stability, this zone presents a customized portfolio of recycled compounds engineered for mobility applications. Building on standard recycled resins, formulations are refined through glass fiber / mineral filling and toughening modification to resolve common recycled-material challenges: high odor, low-temperature brittleness, heat deformation, and rapid weathering degradation.

Grades on display are suitable for automotive interior components, two-wheeler housings, in-vehicle functional parts, and outdoor mobility equipment — retaining the low-carbon advantage of recycled materials while meeting OEM component testing standards, enabling mobility companies to reduce product carbon footprints and build recycled material supply chains that satisfy Japanese automotive requirements.

Zone 4 | Back2circle TraceBytes® 

The greatest challenge in recycled material trade lies in verifying feedstock authenticity, recycled content ratios, and carbon reduction data.

The system captures upstream recovery documentation, production batch parameters, recycled content proportions, third-party carbon accounting reports, test reports, and qualification certificates in real time, generating a unique digital identity QR code for every batch of recycled material. With one scan, customers can retrieve the complete dossier and automatically output carbon footprint reports aligned with Japan's carbon passport requirements. Compatible across the entire product line — PCR post-consumer resins, OBP marine recyclates, and recycled compounds — the system provides credible digital evidence for foreign trade customs clearance, brand ESG disclosure, and third-party verification.
